November 7th, 2008, DBSK takes WonderGirls off the competition and emerged as #1 for Music Bank K-Chart combined for the month of October with their hit song 'MIROTIC', as announced on the episode of the show on 7th November.

Popular group TVXQ will be on the same stage as Japan's top artists in this year's NHK's "Love Song 2008.

"TVXQ will attend NHK on the fourteenth for their live event "Love Song 2008."

NHK's annual broadcast concert "Love Song" is a stage where Japan's top artists perform. On last year's "2007 Love Song," BoA's performance attracted the eyes of many Korean fans. This time, TVXQ is appearing as the Hallyu star, testing their popularity in Japan.

Of course Dong Bang Shin Ki’s legion of fans worship the five idols, but apparently, a lot of other people in the industry think highly of the band as well. Take a gander:

YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Sok: Ah! They’re the only singers I admire. TVXQ is really awesome. On the live stage, they do very well. If they weren’t good looking, they would probably be the male version of Big Mama. Some of our country’s bias towards TVXQ is wrong.

SM Entertainment’s Lee Soo Man: It’s really a waste~ The kids who could’ve gone onto their solo careers became a group in the end.Kim Gun Mo: If only I was a TVXQ member! They’re a group that’s hard to believe, with talent that’s shocking.

Tony An of H.O.T.: After they get onstage, they can bring together all of the audience’s focus. This is the kind of thing we need to bring energy to the music world. From this kind of view, there should be many groups like TVXQ appearing now. It’s not talking about coming out with many groups. More like, there should be more groups with such power to influence. Being able to receive the general audience’s support can also become a good foundation for the entertainment industry.

Kangta of H.O.T.: Although they’re already top stars, their personality is still very good. Compared to when I was younger, they’re really very kind.

We all like TVXQ very much. We hope this time we’ll use the chance to become more intimate with the members.

FT Island: TVXQ sunbaes are very modest. Although they’ve already become Asia’s top idol group, we respect the humbleness they display at all times.

Dong Bang Shin Gi’s Choi Kang Chang Min was singled out as the Casanova of the group.

On MBC’s ‘Yoo Jae Suk & Kim Won Hee’s Come To Play’ (Shortened form: ‘Come To Play’) broadcast on October 27th, Choi Kang Chang Min ranked first place when Young Woong Jae Joong surveyed it’s members when asked “Which person is most like casanova among Dong Bang Shin Gi?”

Choi Kang Chang Min drew attention because of the overwhelming lead even before the ranking was announced. The sights of DBSK members hurrying through various international airports and avoiding grabby hands shouldn't be unfamiliar to any fans of the boys. According to estimated calculations, each of the members has logged approximately 300,000 miles in airline mileage since their first overseas activities in April 2004 up to September 2008.

For the folks not in the USA (no thank you metric), that is over 482,803 kilometers!

The circumference of the earth is around 40,000 kilometers, which means each of the boys could have circled the earth 12 times since 2004. The five of them together would have traveled 60 times around the world by now.

Han Hyo Joo Interview: "JaeJoong is still very unnatural"

Actress Han Hyo Joo delivered her promise to do her best in upcoming Japanese-Korean collaboration drama, "Heaven's Postman".

On the 22nd, Han Hyo Joo revealed through a phone interview that she liked the script ever since she saw it, and made the decision to accept the role. Also, the director was someone she'd worked with before in "Spring Waltz", adding to her confidence.

About her role this times, Han Hyo Joo said, "In the past I had roles in history dramas or roles that weren't compatible with my real age, but this time my role is just right for my age, so I believe I can show everyone my best."

She also expressed her anticipation for "Heaven's Postman."

Han Hyo Joo and Kim Jae Joong are confirmed as co-stars in their upcoming drama.

Jae will act as a messenger between the dead (who are in heaven) and their family and friends (who are still living). His character is very deep and mysterious.

Han Hyo Joo will act as a pure and innocent girl who lost her loved one but cannot forget him. However after working with JaeJoong at the same job, she slowly falls in love with him.

The episode of the mini-series is 120 minutes long, and the entire plot is a love story.

The producer says that in the drama (concerning the kiss scene), "the two (Jae and HHJ) both like each other. During a beautiful sunset, one of them (not specified) says, 'I want to kiss you', followed by a very touching kiss scene". They have rehearsed the drama 7 times already, and JaeJoong's acting has improved significantly. They will start filming next month, which will be adjusted into JaeJoong' schedule. The drama is due to be aired May, 2009.

JaeJoong was a gum seller during his youth?

Dong Bang Shin Ki member, Young Woong JaeJoong has revealed that he was a gum seller when he was young.

Young Woong JaeJoong has captured the hearts of his fans with his prince-like looks. However, during his appearance on KBS 2TV’s Happy Together Season 3, he revealed for the first time that he was once a gum seller when he was young.

When he was 16, JaeJoong decided to go to Seoul to fulfil his dream of becoming a singer. JaeJoong, who lived a hard life while he was at Seoul, said “The owner of the house I was staying in said ‘If you can’t produce the rent by tomorrow, I’ll evict you from your room.”

In order to come up with the 150 000 won needed to pay for the rent, he started working, taking up various jobs including being one of 100 000 soldiers for the movie, Taegeukgi Hwinallimyeo (Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War) and selling gum, JaeJoong explained, to the great surprise of the audience and his fellow guests alike.

When JaeJoong was selling gum, due to his normal appearance (as in he didn’t have the appearance of someone who would usually do that type of work), admitted that “People would usually mistake and think that I had stolen the gum, which made it hard for me.” JaeJoong, who would walk around all day trying to sell the gum also said “Out of desperation, I went into a supermarket, where the woman working there took pity on me and said ‘I’ll buy whatever gum you have left, so don’t do that type of work anymore.’ before giving me 150 000 won.”

From this, JaeJoong continued, “Through this event, I got even more determined in my attempt to become a singer.”. JaeJoong also showed his thankfulness towards the woman he met in the supermarket during the broadcast.

Happy Together Season 3 will be broadcast on the 9th of October, 11:05 pm KST.

Wang Biho, who is known for saying stining remarks, raises the white flag to the DBSK fans “I lost. Stop bothering me” Declaration of surrender

On KBS 2TV ‘Gag Concert’, which aired on the 5th, in the ‘Peach Village School’ corner, Wang Biho said “There is still a lot of talk over the things I said about DBSK.” “I must put a complete stop to all that talk”. Last month, on the September 21st broadcast of ‘Peach Village School’, Wang Biho stingingly remarked “DBSK’s fanclub Cassiopeia has over 800,000 member so why are only 100,000 albums being sold?” This caused a lot of criticism.

On the broadcast of KBS ‘Happy Together Season 3′ on the 9th, Dong Bang Shin Gi member U-Know Yunho drew interest when he said, “I had the chance to meet my ideal type, Jeon Ji Hyun.”

The two recently had opportunity of meeting since Dong Bang Shin Gi has been selected as a model for a cellular company, the same brand which Jeon Ji Hyun is a model for.

Jaejoong asks fans why they don't cheer at M! Countdown concert

So there was a lot of confusion in the Korean fandom since the M! Countdown concert because of JaeJoong. When they got to recording the Mirotic performance, there was an NG so they had some time while the black whats-its were being fixed. The members went back down but then Jaejoong poked his head back out to ask the fans why they weren't doing the cheers anymore. (As you probably know, the fans had decided to just listen quietly so people could actually hear DBSK's live after asking the guys. So there was a lot of stuff floating around about how DBSK can't agree on how they want to be cheered on either.)

You'll have to look at the floor to spot him. Just his head/shoulder is sticking out.

Didn't have time to watch the fancams of the concert but I heard that Cass cheered (but maybe too excessively) after this. Quite a few of the reports I've read said Jaejoong looked pretty satisfied after the Mirotic performance.

SM just posted a notice on DBSK's news&notice portion a little while back that the fans should stay quiet, but do the cheering at the chorus of Mirotic like Jaejoong wanted. That probably settled things since until then, all the fans were wondering how they should cheer, if they should cheer (they started a poll again), etc.

World Domination: Mexican magazine features DBSK (after previous coverage from Peru, Chile & Spain)

Yet ANOTHER special feature article on the great phenomenon & sensation called DBSK / Tohoshinki / TVXQ, by another completely far off and non-Asian country that one would never have thought would consider covering Kpop/Jpop.

A weekly Mexican entertainment magazine recently had a large page dedicated to the group, mentioning their immense popularity around the world in countries like Korea, Japan and Taiwan. They even went as far as to suggest that DBSK is ready to conquer Mexico!

Might we suggest that DBSK totally take up some Spanish classes and consider a debut in the Latin/South American countries, more so than the US itself seeing how much greater media interest is being shown there. These media outlets are literally calling out to them to come over. Of course, this is all thanks to the hundreds of fans who made their fandom known.

For some reason, these boys from South Korea have cause commotion in many places around the world with their pop music and their peculiar style. They sing in their mother tongue, just one or two (N: “una u otra” in this is like some few songs) or some chorus in English or Japanese, but even with that they are a sensation. The acronym that shapes their name means “Rising gods of the East”. The five young men were choose carefully between hundreds of thousands of people, five years ago, for one big Asian label. TVXQ are Touched by the Fans Cheer

TVXQ is a popular Korean band through out Asia. After one year and seven months, they are finally back in Korea. Despite some members catching colds and even a flu, they performed successfully on their comeback mini concert for the fans.

While back stage, Lead vocalist Jae Joong commented: "Due to the Flu, I was nervous because everyone had the flu but we're lucky to have successfully performed." Jae Joong. the source of the flu then added: "Everyone caught it from me and I am so sorry for that. Honestly we liked for a more perfect performance but so unfortunate...."

It was said that since TVXQ hasn't heard such loud and spirit-full cheers from fans that their present that night became shiny motivation for the boys.

The guys performed 3 songs: Mirotic, Hey Don't Bring Me down and Love on Ice.

TVXQ; Music Seizes Fans

With the release of the new album, hundred of fans gathered in front of local CD stores to get their hands on the most anticipated comeback album in Korea this season. The album even received and impressive 333,000 pre orders.

Members of TVXQ expressed they were in shock and couldn't believe it since they initially thought reacting 15,000 in sales was difficult enough. The boys were also touched by the amount of support and promised to work hard.

The 4th album was created by the ideas of the individual members:Jae Joong first came up with the title Mirotic by combining the Korean word "miro" with the English ending "tic", creating a new slang/word meaning To be trapped in a maze. The new word also reflects the fact that fans can not escape the charm of Dong Bang Skin Ki.

"We wanted to try something new while keeping the idea that only DBSK would do this sort of thing. That was not so easy."

Korean fans are using "silent -listening" method

A chinese website by the name of Baidu Bar said that recently Korean fans are using the "silent-listening" method. They said Korean Cassiopeia had come up with the cheering for Mirotic a long long time ago but after the Mini Concert 2 different opinions surfaced: one is continue with the loud cheering while they sing, the other one is to use the "silent-listening" method like Japanese fans.

A lot of people agreed with the second opinion. Because DBSK said that this album is aimed for the public, if they keep cheering loudly while the boys sing the atmosphere will be good but it will have bad effect on other viewers.

After that Cassiopeia went and ask for an opinion from the boys themselves. The answer they received was that they hope the fans will listen to their performance silently. Because of that Korean fans have decided to follow the silent-listening method from then on.

The super loud cheering you heard from Mnet was because a lot of fans lost control that day (maybe because of the unexpected fan meeting??) and they said it really had bad effects on Tv's viewer.

Korean fans dont want the same thing happen again so they carefully told everyone to keep quite during the Music Bank performance and even gave leaflets to every fan who came in that day.

Dong Bang Shin Ki have made their fans laugh once again.

The group, who have just recently released their 4th album, 주문-미로틱(MIROTIC) featured and performed on Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate on the 27th of September.

The Dong Bang Shin Ki members shared many stories with MC Kim Jung Eun and their fans in the audience, making gestures towards the fans when responding to the MC's questions.

While the members were sharing stories about how they have lived together since their debut, U-Know Yunho said "Since we all live together, our underwear always gets mixed up. Because of this, one of the members started to label his underwear."

"And that member was U-Know Yunho." Young Woong JaeJoong revealed, making Yunho feel awkward. (Puhahahaha~ YunJae <3) "Recently, our manager's underwear has also gotten mixed up with our own. If our manager realises that we're wearing his underwear and he gives it to us, we're happy - but our underwear keeps disappearing." the Dong Bang boys revealed, making their fans and the audience roll over with laughter.

When Kim Jung Eun asked who the dirtiest DBSK member was, DBSK replied "We all clean oftenly. But when we arrived in Japan, Junsu didn't unpack the suitcase with his clothes in it. When compared to the rest of the members, Junsu is the laziest." Yoochun also added, "Junsu planned on not unpacking his clothes at all, until we would have to leave."

"In the end, Junsu never unpacked his clothes." To which Junsu replied, "I didn't need to unpack my clothes. I just wore other clothes which I'd put elsewhere!" causing the audience to burst into laughter once more.

At one stage, 7 year old blind pianist, Yoo Yae Un along with Super Junior Happy appeared on the show as special guests with their own performance. Dong Bang Shin Ki also performed five songs - The title song of their 4th album, 주문(MIROTIC), Love In The Ice, Balloons, Miduhyo (Trust me) and Hug - to the hot response of their audience.

'Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate - Dong Bang Shin Ki Special' will be broadcast by SBS at 12:30 am on the 1st of October.

Jaejoong Accepted the Drama Role in “Postman of Heaven”

Jaejung hero acting challenge, “given a shot/chance to working at acting”

Networks, a joint venture in Japan, will be making a Tele Cinema and first episode is Postman of Heaven. It is a joint drama project of Japan and South Korea. Jaejoong had been interviewed on the 24th (of September? It says something about SM EverySing karaoke). Jaejoong is surprised to being casted for the role. He has read the script and took the role, and said he will work hard for it.

“Postman of Heaven” is going to be produced by ‘I’m Sorry I Love You’ Lee Hyungmin PD and Writer Kitagawa Eriko who wrote “One Million Stars Falling from the Sky” staring Takuya Kimura. The drama is about a messenger who connects the Afterlife with the present world. He will be a mailman who is in charge of sending the death of a friend or family member (of a person) up to heaven. There will be a DVD of this mini-series.

Yunho mentions that Jaejoong was the first out of them to make a solo shot at career, and that in the larger framework they are still DBSK as a whole even when they are doing solo.

The drama is scheduled to be filmed as early as the 10th (October?).

This isn't one of those full dramas with 16 episodes or longer. Korean Producers and Japanese Writers are getting together and producing something called "Telecinema." There will be 7 episodes each with a different story and Jaejoong will be coming out in the 1st episode. A TV version and movie version will be released, which will be 60 minutes and 120 minutes long respectively. There is no info on when this will air.

Cassiopiea Writes Their Own Album

TVXQ fans, Cassiopeia gave their own blessings to TVXQ and their 4th Album, wishing them success with songs of their own, their own fan album.

In hopes of filling in the gaps for when TVXQ had been absent from Korea, fans started ‘Cassiopeia Sensation Project’. It’s a project of songs that make up for the year TVXQ had been away in Japan.

The album will be released in October. ‘Return to Memory’, ‘Boundless’, ‘Memory’, and ‘One More’ are few of the song titles. Many fans have composed their own music and written lyrics for the album. They have now completed 11 pieces. A lot of fans to be names as they produced everything by themselves, including raising money to pay for the cost of production.

TVXQ’s company SM Entertainment said “H.O.T. fans have done something similar in the past, it’s very hard and difficult to do, we understand how much dedication they put in. As TVXQ releases their 4th album, fans have so kindly done the same to support them, we’re really very grateful”

DBSK Takes A Psychology Test? (On PKL’s Starry Night)

Popular group Dong bang Shin Ki, who have made their comeback after 1 year and 7 months gathered much new interest after taking a blood type based dating psychology test.

As part of the popular “Psychology break” corner of SBS Power FM’s Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time (something like Toho-psychology in Bigeaststation I presume), the Dong Bang boys took some time to take a psychology test.

In the test, the five boys had to look at some couples, before being asked which couple they liked the most. Micky Yoochun and Young Woong JaeJoong, both of type O blood chose “The couple who could communicate well with each other”. Xiah Junsu and Choikang Changmin, both of type B blood chose “The older woman, younger boy couple.” And lastly, U-Know Yunho of blood type A chose “The couple who got closer through fighting (as in arguing, etc – like a typical drama couple where it starts off with the girl hating the guy and vice versa, but in the end they both fall in love)”. The fact that those of the same blood type chose the same type of couple surprised and amused the Dong Bang boys, and in turn, their fans.

Micky Yoochun and Young Woong JaeJoong, both of O type blood explained that because they were introverts, they found it hard to approach the person they liked. However, once they like a person, they would love that person, and keep that love until the end. Choikang Changmin and Xiah Junsu revealed that if they love someone, they will love them without limits quickly, however, their love would have its romantic moments and non-romantic moments – in other words, ups and downs (translated literally, it would be something like their love would be ‘hot’ but it would cool down). From this, the members worried in a somewhat joking manner; “What if we someday disrupt Dong Bang Shin Ki’s schedule due to love?”

Lastly, U-Know Yunho revealed that once he fell in love with someone, he would push for a response from the person due to his tough personality. Due to this, many people had the response that Yunho would be the most likely to date his ideal girl.

Following the psychology corner, Dong Bang Shin Ki showed a less polished/practiced image which they didn’t show in other shows, to the delighted response of the audience. Choikang Changmin said, “I usually put the piece of pizza I’m eating on my hand and wait until everyone else has finished eating their pizza – and if they’ve left any, I eat that as well.” revealing an unexpected side of him. Young Woong JaeJoong, who the other Dong Bang Shin Ki members chose as the most fun to be around, once again showed his self-created unique vibration techniques (meaning vocal vibrations), as well as impersonations, transforming the audience into a sea of laughter.

At one point during the broadcast, “Dong Bang Shin Ki – Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time” achieved a ranking of 1st and 2nd on search engines, making us feel the power of Dong Bang Shin Ki’s popularity.

Although he may look cold on the outside, he is very kind and warm in the inside. Once, when Han Geng was not feeling well, Jaejoong was the only one that found out. Jaejoong gave him medicine and even made porridge for him, that really touched Han Geng. Both them instantly became best friends, Jaejoong can talk a lot, love telling cold jokes, love to play around, and always make Han Geng laughs. Dong Bang Shin Gi’s 4th album that is set to release on the 24th has exceeded 300, 000 preorders. The record was formly held by Seo Taiji in 2004 for his first album, it’s a remarkable result when you consider the fact that 190, 000 was the highest number of albums sold last year.

There had been reports in Korea, starting from the 20th Sept, fans had been queuing at the City Hall Lawn, hoping to get the best seat to see their favorite stars.And it isn't just a small number of them. Dong Bang Shin Ki held their fourth album showcase at Seoul’s City Hall to promote their fourth Korean album “Mirotic” and held what they called an “Autumn Mini-Concert.” Fans swarmed the historically important site and started queuing up to see the five boys in action as early as three days in advance. Like in their previous showcases, DBSK performed tracks off their upcoming record and interacted with their fans. Interest in TVXQ’s 4th album “MIROTIC” becomes hotter with every day. Its planned release date is September 24. Included in this album are the reverse beat dance song ‘주문-MIROTIC,’ which has a sophisticated melody and intoxicating chorus, and ballad, R&B, acid jazz, remakes, and more that makes a variety of 12 songs.

Two TVXQ members have participated in writing the songs. Junsu wrote ‘노을.. 바라보다’ (Look at.. the Sunset), a ballad which showcases TVXQ’s vocals, and is about wanting to protect your girl with your heart. It has impressive and emotional lyrics. From their 3rd Japanese album “T,” ChangMin wrote the Korean version lyrics to the heart-wrenching ballad song ‘Love in the Ice.’

This 4th album shows TVXQ in attractive, new, diverse songs. The sophisticated ‘Wrong Number’ has grooves with a dark, mysterious atmosphere that features for the first time JaeJoong’s rap.

With an electronic beat and strings’ harmonic melody, ‘CRAZY LOVE,’ written by famous lyricist Kim Young Hoo, is about a man who doesn’t want to give up on the woman he loves, and makes a pledge. In addition, Lee Yong’s hit song ‘잊혀진 계절’ (Forgotten Season) in the 1980s will be newly made into JaeJoong’s solo, which will expose it to the younger generation.

The title song ‘주문-MIROTIC’ will be available to the public on all music sites on September 19. On the 21st in front of City Hall, TVXQ will have their first 4th album promotional activity in their “Dong Bang Shin Ki Autumn Mini Concert.”

Tvxq voices helped Taiwan fan awake from koma.

21 years old Zhuang Xiao Han, is a die-hard fan of Korean famous boyband, TVXQ ( DBSK ) . Last year, she got into an accident and was seriously injured. The doctor announced that she will not be able to live more than 3 days. Zhuang's mum did not give up, she played TVXQ songs 24 hours everyday, and her daughter woke up! Zhuang's mum said, "I really thank TVXQ for letting me see a miracle."

Last year March, around 11pm at night, Zhuang Xiao Han was riding her bike home and got into an accident. She was sent to the Xiao Gang Hospital (小港醫院), doctor said that her head was seriously injured and she will not be able to live more than 3 days.

Zhuang's mum sobs and said, " I know she really likes TVXQ, so I played TVXQ songs everyday, in hope that she will survive. I don't care if she will become a vegetable, as long as she survive." Alas, she survived the 3 days, and was in a coma for 7 months, until one day, she miraculously woke up.

Zhuang's mum smiled and said, "I played TVXQ songs everyday, until the cd player spoilt. When she woke up, the first thing she said to her Dad was, to help her buy TVXQ's new album."

TVXQ will be having a concert at Taipei next month, 10th May 2008. Xiao Han's story spreads around Cassiopeias online. When the organiser of the concert heard of this news, they gave Xiao Han VIP tickets to TVXQ concert, a voucher to stay at Wang Han Hotel (王朝飯店) and a TVXQ album. During the period of her coma, Xiao Han went through a total of 5 operations.

When she received TVXQ Concert tickets, she was so happy and she tried her best to say, "Thank You."

About TVXQ and their military service

Tohoshinki to be drafted into the militaryAccording to a lot of fan sites, Yunho from Tohoshinki has received a letter requesting him to render compulsory military service in Korea as most males ages 19-22 (of Korean nationality) will face in the country.

The 5-unit all-male group originated from Korea under SM Entertainment now has moved to Japan under the Rhythm Zone label (avex group) and has enjoyed a big fandom in East Asia, doing concerts in countries like Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

This wasn't the first time a Korean male celebrity was drafted into the military. The R&B group in Korea, G.O.D., had been drafted more than a year ago and has disbanded ever since. Shinhwa, another all-male group also from SM Entertainment had also been requested to serve but will enlist on 2008.

There have been reports that SM Entertainment will find a way to move the start of the service to 2 years from now as starting the service now might prove detrimental to the group. The group is set to have their first concert in Thailand on December 15th and Xiah Junsu, one of the members, is busy with the Anyband concert in Korea this November 27th. Anyband is the newest ad campaign by Anycall, a mobile service carrier in Korea famous for having famous music stars as endorsers for their mobile carrier service. Some of these stars include BoA, Jin Bora, Tablo of Epik High, etc.

It has been discussed that if ever one of the members of TVXQ will have to render military service, the group plans to sign-up together. Some fans have also said that "Hero" Jaejoong, another member of the group, might not be required to render service because of a rule exempts the 'only sons' of Korean families.

TVXQ Attracts 390,000 Fans During Asia Tour

SM Entertainment says five-member group TVXQ attracted some 390,000 audience members during their 16-month tour around Asia.

TVXQ's Asian tour began in February, 2007, after it swept the 2006 year-end awards ceremony in 2006. Over the 16-month period, the group performed in six Asian cities including Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Beijing, attracting a total of 390,000 audience members along the way.

TVXQ was the subject of much talk throughout the concert period. One website crashed after 300,000 fans rushed onto the site to reserve tickets, TVXQ set the record for being the number one foreign artist to attract the largest number of audience members two years in a row, and 125 stores at a Thai department store were forced to close down temporarily after 15,000 fans and reporters flocked to the venue of the press conference.

In October last year, one of the scheduled concerts in Taiwan was canceled due to a typhoon, and the group members returned to Taiwan earlier this year in May to keep their promise to their fans.

TVXQ plans to release a brand new album in Korea in the Fall.

Yunho
I went back to my hometown and went mountain climbing with family and friends. Although we took a cable car halfway up the mountain, but we walked all the way up to the halfway point first. After that, I attended a party with Jaejoong. I met up with my classmates from my first year in high school that I haven’t seen in a long time. It was a class gathering. Around 18 of us gathered a restaurant my friend owns and talked about what we have been doing while enjoying the night scenery together. It was very enjoyable.In the year 2008, I want to teach myself the piano and to apply it to make our harmony more flexible. I’ve even bought the books needed to learn to play the piano

Yoochun
I went to the ski resort with my friends in Korea and tried skiing, something I haven’t done in a year. Actually, Changmin was supposed to go skiing with us but he caught a cold…. How good I am in skiing? Although I cannot do those jumps or 180 degree turns, I must say I have some skill (in skiing). My manager who went along got a shock and said that I was very good. I even brought my dog to play in the ski resort.My goal for this year is, my fear of heights….Yeah, it’s impossible (laughs). Oh yeah, I want to build a house where I can stay with my family. The members have also supported me in my decision. (Gives a shocked expression when talking about the members~)

Junsu
I went to play soccer with a bunch of my friends from high school. We played 6 on 6 and shot in many goals like footballers and the result was 20-18. Because there weren’t enough people, the goal keeper was practically non existent. I won by shooting 9 goals in 20 minutes. After that I went a restaurant that I always went to when I was a kid and before my debut. We reminisced about a lot of things as a family and had a relaxing time.My goal for the year is to compose good songs. I would like to compose a song that regardless of genre or nationality, no matter who listens to it, they’ll say ‘This song is good’.

Jaejoong
I went on a holiday to the villages with my friends. We left on the 1st of January and I drove about 5 hours or so before reaching. Although we stayed there for 5 days, but compared to that, the only thing I can remember is that I drove…… Something’s wrong. These 5 days flew past quickly compared to half a year of schedules. (laughs). And because of the crude oil spillage in Korea last year, I volunteered to clean the beach. Changmin and his father participated.My goal for the year: because I have many problems with my body, in order to let my bones and muscles to become stronger, I want to go to the gym. Then I would also like to work even harder to finish an incomplete song and release it in our CD. My goal is to compose one more song compared to Junsu.

Changmin
Although I participated in the volunteer activities, however because I was sick for majority of the break, it was a holiday that only comes once in a long time but I didn’t really go out to play. I just kept sleeping…. Although I went to the ski resort with Yoochun, but I got a cold after the day I arrived so I could only stay in the resort and sleep. I didn’t ski at all and didn’t even touch snow. Why did this happen? On the first day back, I thought [What did I do during the break] and was so upset I could’ve cried.I would like to learn to play the guitar this year because I wanted to learn it since last year but I didn’t do it in the end. I want to be able to sing and play the guitar simultaneously one day. And I want to be healthy *laughs*

DBSK will be at Club Disney in January! In 2007, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea will be having a special event at a winter garden called "Special Knight Disney Club". High popularity singers like TRF, AAA, and DBSK will be invited as special guests to be involved in the performances. Last year in February, Tokyo Disney held a similar "bayside beat" event, (an event put together around themes like hip hop, classical dance, and many other musical genres and dances). This year's special guests include dance group TRF and Korea's own DBSK who will be holding a LIVE performance!! Performance dates: 28 - 30 Jan 2007, from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.

Interesting Things about TVXQ and SUJU:

1. Kim Heechul and U-KNOW Yunho
When ‘Cinderella’Kim Heechul entered SM Entertainment, he was arranged to live in the same hostel room with U-KNOW Yunho from TVfXQ!. These boys, who were still very young, soon became very close with each other. At that time, Heechul had very short hair, his skin was tanned, and he looked very experienced and capable. In fact, the clothes which he wore were not bright, emphasizing on dimmer colours. The truth is that Heechul should thank U-KNOW Yunho. During the SM Training days, U-KNOW Yunho was not that tall - around the same height as Heechul. U-KNOW Yunho has always been very simple person and he thinks that there should never be any misgivings between men. Hence, he naturally began to wear Heechul’s clothes. Despite countless warning given by Heechul, there was still no progress and thus, Heechul began to buy more colourful, attractive clothing whenever he shopped. Gradually, U-KNOW Yunho stopped to wear Heechul’s clothes. Nevertheless, there was another factor - U-KNOW Yunho was growing taller and he could not fit into Heechul’s clothes. Thanks to this incident, Heechul has found his true-clothing style.

2. Eeteuk, Eunhyuk and Xiah Junsu
Back then, Super Junior leader, Eeteuk, powerful dancer, Eunhyuk and TVfXQ! member, Xiah Junsu, lived close to each other and so, every time after practice, they would go home together. Eunhyuk and Xiah Junsu are very open and straightforward people. They would often blackmail the eldest and Eeteuk, being the patient and kind brother, would always try his best to satisfy these two younger brothers. In fact, if there was a request, Eeteuk would definitely fulfil it! Whatever the younger brothers wanted to eat, he would agree to it; whatever they wanted to play, he would pay the bills .As an older brother, his job is to take care for the younger brothers. Finally, there was one time when Eunhyuk and Xiah Junsu played so much to the extent where Eeteuk had no money to pay for the subway tickets. These three mischievous boys immediately thought of an idea. They bought two tickets and using the convenience of their small, skinny body, they managed to escape ticket inspection. Nowadays, where they no longer have the opportunity to ride on public transports, this is a very unforgettable memory to them.

3. Super Junior shows support for TVfXQ!
On Boxing Day 2003, it was the day when TVfXQ! performed for the first time on a TV station. After many years of training, the TVfXQ! members could finally debut smoothly and every single one of them was extremely nervous and excited. Not only did they share their happiness with each other, but the Super Junior boys were also involved. On the 26th of December, the people sitting in front of the TV in the TVfXQ! hostel were not TVfXQ! but instead, they were the Super Junior members -Heehchul, Eunhyuk, Donghae and etc. Before TVfXQ! appeared on stage, the boys called everybody they knew including their friends and relatives to watch and enjoy TVfXQ!’s first performance. Although TVfXQ! now handles such situations with maturity and talents; however, at that point in time, they were clenching with anxiety. Xiah Junsu even accidentally slipped on man-made snow flakes.

4. TVfXQ! members, in return, shows support for Super Junior
Super Junior members also shared the happiness with TVfXQ! members when they performed for the first time. On the 6th of November 2005, through the internet, the TVfXQ! members watched intensely for the final moment in Japan. U-KNOW Yunho who is very close with the Super Junior members, was so touched that he even cried on the spot. After Xiah Junsu finished watching the performance, he deliberately called the Super Junior members to congratulate them on their debut. Eeteuk, the leader who has cried many times in the past, could not refrain himself from crying after hearing his younger brothers had called from Japan. Thinking about that day, Eeteuk feels it was very comforting and touching. As for the other 11 members, they felt extremely overwhelmed by their first performance. On that day, since they did not eat earlier, every one of them had to perform with empty stomachs. When they cried and had a group hug, sounds of hunger from their stomachs could well be heard.

5. Max Changmin and Super Junior
TVfXQ! and Super Junior members are very close and they understand each other quite well. So, let’s hear about TVfXQ! from the Super Junior members! Well, ChoiKang Changmin is not only the youngest in TVfXQ!, all the other 12 Super Junior members are also his older brothers. On the outer appearance, ChoiKang Changmin looks cute and obedient ??he always has an innocent and clueless facial expression. However, the truth is that he is active to the max, and loves to play tricks and jokes on other people. Especially when he picks up the phone, no matter which older brother calls him, ChoiKang Changmin will always use an extremely happy tone in an extremely loud voice to scream: “Hyung! Is that you!” Even if the members just left a few moments ago or they just borrowed some cash from him, ChoiKang Changmin will still greet in a manner as though he has not seen his older brother for a long time.

6. Xiah Junsu and Kim Heechul
Xiah Junsu is well-known for his beautiful husky voice, and he has received many compliments from elderly ones and his peers. However, Xiah Junsu actually does not like to go to KTV to sing songs - from young till now, he has gone there for less than 10 times. In fact, once he has free time, Xiah Junsu would either play computer games / the internet or he would invite some friends over to play soccer. As he loves soccer so much, Kim Heechul from Super Junior even commented that, “The soccer ball is his wife!”

7. Xiah Junsu and Lee HyukJae [Eunhyuk]
TVfXQ! and Super Junior members had a poll to vote for the stingiest member, and Xiah Junsu was the winner. Hyukjae who has been around Xiah Junsu ever since their childhood, has the most power to comment. They have already know each other for 8 years and so their relationship is not the typical intimacy. Nevertheless, Xiah Junsu has never bought Hyukjae a meal before. At the same time, Hyukjae confessed that he is the same as Xiah Junsu. Xiah Junsu even further defended his stand, saying “In the not-too-distant future, I will pay for the meal, everybody can eat to the max!”

TVXQ started off the year with their 16th single "Purple Line", by the Korean composer of TVXQ's hits "Rising Sun" and ""O"-Jung.Ban.Hap.", being released on January 16, 2008 in Japan and January 23, 2008 in South Korea. "Purple Line" topped the Oricon Weekly Chart during the week of its release, becoming the group's first #1 on the weekly charts in Japan; TVXQ became the first foreign male group to accomplish this feat. TVXQ promoted the single in Korea, where a Korean version of the song was released. The following week, the group released its third Japanese album, entitled T which contained songs from their past singles such as "Lovin' You", their summer hit "Summer Dream", "SHINE," "Forever Love", "Together", and "Purple Line". As an exclusive extra, TVXQ added "Kiss Shita Mama, Sayonara" ("Kissしたまま、さよなら") which was composed and written by the members Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong, and their own version of "LAST ANGEL". T debuted in Oricon charts as #2.
Rhythm Zone, a side label of Avex, created a new marketing strategy for TVXQ by releasing five additional singles in February and March 2008 in consecutive weeks after the release of the album T. Each single contained a member's solo and a song that was part of "TRICK" included in the T album.

On March 28th, TVXQ was appointed the "Goodwill Ambassador for Asia" by Universal Studios Japan to promote the attractions of USJ.

The group released its 22nd single, "Beautiful You / Sennen Koi Uta (千年恋うた‎‎)" on April 23, 2008. The single debuted at number one on the Oricon daily and weekly chart, becoming TVXQ's third single to reach that position on the daily charts and second single to reach that position in the weekly chart. The group thus became the second non-Japanese Asian artist to do so, the first being Taiwanese artist Ouyang Feifei (歐陽菲菲), 24 years and 5 months ago.
On May 17, 2008, TVXQ performed "Rising Sun," "Tonight," and "Purple Line" at the 6th Korean Music Festival in Los Angeles, California. They also took part in ensemble encore performances of "Balloons" and SMTown's "Let's Go on a Trip." In addition, the group performed as the closing act at the 14th Annual Dream Concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul on June 7, 2008. On June 12th, TVXQ ended their 2nd Asia Tour in Beijing with a performance for over 200,000 fans; the tour had begun on February 23, 2007 in Seoul, and spanned 13 performances covering Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Beijing. On top of that, their two separate live tours in Japan during 2007 and 2008 drew crowds of 55,000 and 150,000, respectively, for a total of 390,000 audience members attending the concerts.[32]
On July 22, 2008, TVXQ became the first non-Japanese Asian artist to have three number ones on the weekly Oricon singles chart, when their single " Why Did I Fall In Love With You? (どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう？) attained number one with weekly sales of 68,000 copies.

They also performed at the SM TOWN LIFE '08.

The group is currently working on the upcoming 4th Korean album, scheduled to be released for fall of 2008.

However, while the group was filming a variety show in October 2006, U-Know was rushed to the hospital from drinking a beverage given by an anti-fan. Although the container was visibly open, U-Know unsuspectingly drank from the bottle. As a result, he was quickly instructed by his manager to vomit immediately after drinking it. The cyanoacrylate also caused his lips to stick to the container, which significantly damaged his lips.The female suspect, whose surname is Ko, apprehended on October 16, was a member of an anti-TVXQ website for over two years. In a threatening letter to U-Know, the letter states

'You watch your mouth! Ever since the debut you people (members of TVXQ) were so stuck up. (middle fingers) You people won't last after a couple years... You would be forever seen as some teen idols not real singers. Do you know your limit? [The limit is that] Only little kids like you!'

Despite the culprit's confession, the incident still leaves many unanswered questions, such as why U-know drank from the open container, and how the culprit managed to enter the building of the broadcast station. Yunho called the police personally to request them not to press charges because "he has a little sister who is almost the woman's age." Because of his request, she was not charged.
Yunho's friend Hee Chul of Super Junior reacted to this event by posting on his Cyworld that the anti-fans are mean-spirited and told them to come after him instead. Following Hee Chul's post, TVXQ's anti-fans promised to make him and his close friends in Super Junior, Han Kyung and Kim KiBum their next targets for further violence.[citation needed]
As a result, TVXQ continued with its promotional activities as a 4-member group until their performance on KBS's Music Bank on October 22, Yunho's first since the incident. Since then, the tensions have seemingly died down, and TVXQ is back doing performances around Korea to promote their third album.

TVXQ (Tong Vfang Xien Qi) is a Korean boy band. This group is composed of five male members specializing in the areas of dance, acappella, various drama acting, and pop with an R&B vibe. The group has gained popularity in Japan, Taiwan, China, and other East-Asian countries. Currenty, it is one of the top pop groups of the Korean Wave (hallyu). TVXQ, their international and official name, is written in Hanja as '(東方神起)' and is also referred to by various other names. Its Korean title is 동방신기 (romanized as Dong Bang Shin Gi/Ki, abbreviated as DBSK/DBSG), whereas the Japanese equivalent is Tōhōshinki (abbreviated as THSK). The group debuted in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China throughout 2004.

Musical style

Although initially marketed as an "A cappella" group, most of TVXQ's music is mainstream K-pop. Their debut single "Hug" was a romantic bubblegum pop song, whereas their followup single "The Way U Are" was a dance/R&B number, complete with stylized outfits and heavily choreographed dance moves. Their third major single release, "믿어요" (Believe), in contrast, was a ballad. TVXQ concluded the year with a Christmas album that also had an a cappella version of "Jesus, Joy Of Man's Desiring". With their releases in 2004, the group showed a versatility in style and has managed not to be permanently typecast as a certain "genre style" (as opposed to Fly to the Sky's ballads or Koyote's dance songs).

With consecutive releases, they have not moved from this formula, as their second and third albums have had a similar mixture without moving outside of the mainstream label. The second album's singles, for example, included a dance song (their first release) and a ballad (their followup). As the third album's releases have so far been dance, ballad and pure pop tracks, TVXQ has continued to move from genre to genre while staying mainstream. Although the group has given many a cappella performances, TVXQ has yet to release an a cappella (or an otherwise mostly vocal) single.

Pre-fame

Their Korean name in English translates to “Rising Gods of the East.” All the members were separately chosen by SM Entertainment through various auditions and did not start off together, as they (and others, including members of Super Junior) were divided into groups of their peers and received training to find potential talents. All the members of TVXQ were originally the lead vocals of other singing groups.

The first member to join was Kim Junsu (김준수). He enjoyed singing at his church when he was young. At the age of 12 he was brought into the band through a televised talent search which Moon Hee Jun and Kangta from H.O.T. were judges. His vocals won over the judges and won him through training for the next six years until he debuted as Xiah Junsu (시아준수; Xiah is pronounced She-ah in Korean). Xiah was a stage name that Junsu himself chose, explaining to his fans that the name was short for "Asia," as Asia is pronounced "a-shee-a" in Korean. "Xiah" would be a reference to his desire to become not only a star in Korea, but a star recognized all throughout the continent.

The group’s second member, Jung Yunho (정윤호), secured his spot in TVXQ through a dance competition. Prior to this, he accumulated some musical experience as a rapper and backup dancer for Kpop singer Dana in her Diamond video. His chosen stage name is U-know Yunho from his Korean name Yunho; U-know is pronounced "You know" in English. He is the second oldest member in TVXQ and is also the group's leader.

Kim Jaejoong (김재중) left his hometown in Chungnam to audition for SM Entertainment. Having left the shelter of home, he experienced poverty and strife before becoming a celebrity. He debuted under the name a fortune teller foretold years before: YoungWoong JaeJoong (영웅재중). Youngwoong means "hero" in Korean, hence his international name, Hero. Jaejoong got picked from an audition of 5000 people. Jaejoong won first place, both in best looking and best vocals. That made him the main vocal of TVXQ.

Shim Changmin (심창민) was grouped with the youngest participants in the audition. Like Xiah Junsu, he impressed the judges with his vocal powers. He joined the band under the name Choikang Changmin (최강창민; the English counterpart to his stage name is Max). Choikang in Korean means "the best;" "Max" became an international rendition of this name.

Six months before the group’s debut, a final member was added. Park Yoochun (박유천) lived in the State of Virginia for roughly four years. Yoochun's stage name, Micky, written as 秘寄 in Hanja (Chinese characters), means "hidden weapon", which symbolises his desire to become a "hidden weapon" in the music industry. Micky was also his English name as to when he lived in Virginia. As the winner of a talent show, he was granted the opportunity to sign with SM Entertainment in Korea. He now performs under the stage name Micky Yoochun (믹키유천).

Debut

TVXQ made their first appearance in 2003 during a Christmas time showcase, and their stage debut featured fellow SM Entertainment star BoA; Britney Spears was at this showcase as well. They performed their debut single "Hug" as well as an acappella rendition of "O Holy Night" alongside BoA. The group eventually released two singles before their first album in 2004. TVXQ surprised everybody by being #1 on Korean music charts 3 months after their debut.
For preparation for their first album, the band recorded the single “Tri-Angle” with BoA and The TRAX. BoA’s profound popularity in Japan, alongside The TRAX’s evolvement in said country, helped to promote the awareness overseas of the new boy band.
